Yoga for Hips & Lower Backs

Did you know that around 80% of the UK population will experience low back pain during their lives? According to the NHS “back pain is the largest single cause of disability in the UK”… 

I’m not surprised, lower back pain has been something I’ve experienced and managed regularly since having children and it’s led me to some interesting revelations, research & practices.

Out of my own lower back pain 'Yoga for Hips & Lower Backs’ classes & workshops have evolved. These sessions have proved to be really popular with positive feedback from the clients who have attended.

The movement we take during these sessions is informed by my own experiences with lower back pain as well as my yoga training and work I’ve done with somatic movement.

In addition I have a keen interest in pain management which has led me to some interesting research and reading on how we can alter our experiences of pain through somatic tracking & mindful awareness. This is backed up by powerful research in to neuro-plastic pain which we explore in my ‘Yoga for Hips & Lower Backs’ workshop.

Excitingly for us yoga lovers… a recent PLOS study found that yoga can be as effective for lower back care and management as physiotherapy with the bonus that it’s probably much cheaper too…

In our upcoming workshop at St. Michael’s Resort we will explore mobilising movement, stretch and gentle flow, somatic tracking and guided relaxation all designed to alleviate sensations associated with tight hips and niggly lower backs.
